Favorite Fall Accessory: The DIY: Faux Fur

This Faux Fur is definitely my Fall Favorite.  In Monday's post I wore as a vest over a flower dress. Today, worn as a soft luxurious stole with my favorite pants suit and Lamb heels.  I really needed the fur today because it was really cold and windy in Los Angeles. Stay Tuned-In, Best Malaika

Copper Leather Jacket and Red Turban, Oh My!

After a quick 4 mile run this morning, I grabbed my vintage copper leather jacket with red turban and I rushed over to the Los Angeles County Museum to meet up with my best friend.  We did a little shopping at the bookstore. I got a couple art books on-sale and with Javier's membership, we got an additional 30% off.  Then off to the Spanish colonial exhibit, took some photos by the lamp posts, wrapped with a glass of red wine as we caught up on each others lives.  Always a great time with friends.  Stay Tuned In-Best, Malaika

Happy Thanksgiving! Friends, Family & Food- I am Grateful!

Today was a great day complete with great company and delicious food.  This year we gathered at my friend Portia's place, she recently bought an insanely huge grill so we put any and everything we could find on the grill.  We had lots of side dishes and yummy deserts.  It was very relaxing and looking forward to next year.  How was your Thanksgiving celebration?  Stay Tuned In-Best Malaika

Vintage Dolce & Gabbana High-Heels

I bought these Vintage Dolce & Gabbana heels at Decades II: A Unique Vintage Shop here on Melrose Ave. where they have a bi-annual shoe sale.  Animal hair- Leopard mixed with a silver metallic mirrored finish lined with studs.

At first I thought what an odd combination then I tried to imagine what inspired the duo designers to create such a beautiful piece of art. Nonetheless I was inspired to be odd and now they are one of my favorites pairs of shoes.

Vintage Leather Trench with River Pearls

I found this Vintage Leather Trench Coat in Minnesota last summer while visiting my sister.  Sometimes I'm amazed at the treasures I find especially when it fits like a glove.  It's as if this coat was waiting for me to take her home. The Hat! Well let's just say vintage shopping in Paris is like having multiple orgasms without the vibrator. I lived in Paris a few years ago and I can truly say it was heaven on earth.  Living in Paris has definitely influenced my style hence the complete look.

The Black Blazer and Vintage Scarf: My Fall Staples

Fall is definitely here, even in Los Angeles.  I'm feeling very moody these days and my mood definitely affects my style.  I reached for the staples, the favorites and whatever is comfortable. So today I wore the black satin tailored blazer I bought in Milan from H&M in the fall of 2007 paired with a vintage  chocolate colored silk scarf and gold stripes, palazzo pants (comfortable) and Sam Edelman pewter colored booties with mirrored heel (myfavorite).  Black Blazer, Vintage Scarf & Sam Edelman Booties are definitely my Fall staples.

Versace for H&M Black Patent Leather Heels

Or should I say the  Best of Versace for H&M  shoes are in my closet!  Can you believe I almost forgot the launch was yesterday.  It hit me as I walked to the local coffee shop for my mid-morning brew, then it hit me like a ton of bricks, the Versace for H&M.  It was like all thoughts instantly cleared out of my mind, interrupting the regular chatter on the brain as if I'd reach nirvana from meditation after 10 years of trying.

It's was 10:30am,  of course all wristbands were gone, oh what the hell I will try anyway. So I raced to Century city mall and into H&M, stood behind the roped collection amazed with envy of the girls and boys already wearing the collection.  Of course no more wristbands, so I stood behind the rope waiting for the non-wristband wearers to shop.

I waited til 11:30am everything was gone except 2 pairs of shoes and 2 fashion books. Then before I knew it,  Men in Black, (security guards) led the non-wristband peeps like me into the roped area.  And wouldn't you know it?  The 2 pairs remaining were the black patent-leather strappy stiletto heels in size 9 and 10... My size!!!!(pause for reaction) I'm in high-heel heaven! I am the Luckiest Girl in the World!

Looking for Gift Ideas? Check out LemLem Scarves

A Lemlem scarf is being added to my Xmas list. They are made in Ethiopia and are just gorgeous. The beautiful colors and textured scarves are compliments of the Ethiopian-born beauty Liya Kebede, she  discovered that traditional weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to a decline in local demand for their goods and wanted to do something about it. Recognizing the beauty, quality and historic significance of their work, Liya started Lemlem in 2007 as a way to inspire economic independence in her native country and to preserve the art of weaving check out the collection here

Electric Blue Pumps + Royal Blue Caftan

Finding the perfect pump is like finding the perfect man, you have to keep trying them on and trying them on until you find the perfect fit.  Well it was love at first sight when I saw these Casadei pumps.  I don't remember where I was when I first saw them but one thing for sure another woman had him.  So I just waited and waited until it was my turn.  Voila! A match made in high-heel heaven. We walked the streets of Milan, Paris and New York, needless to say I haven't let him out of my sight.  Do you have  the Perfect Pump?  Stay Tuned In, Best Malaika

Purple Silk Vintage Dress + Red Turban

So would you wear a turban?  Many people would undoubtedly say yes I will wear a turban. Tying a scarf or piece of satin material is fun in the sun while playing dress up indoors.  However when walking the streets having to face stares and frowns, people might think twice.

I have to admit the first time I experienced the frowns and stares I was a bit fearful but then I noticed the smiles of admiration and joy. So I continued to wear my satin piece of material wrapped around my head AKA my turban. Today I wore my Red Turban with A-Line Purple Vintage dress and blue patent leather Croc- Embossed Casadei Pumps, will show you later.  Stay Tuned in- Best, Malaika

Yellow Coat + Orange Men's Shirt= Burst of Cheerios!

Palazzo pants are tricky to wear when you have curves like me.  I paired the burnt orange flower patterned palazzo pants (hints of gold sparkle) with a long yellow vintage coat to lengthen the width of the pants. Finished the look with towering high-heels from the Mea Shadow brand.

I don't know why but today felt like a snow day.  I'm from Chicago so a snow day is like a gift of free time off from work and school.  Although I worked today, it still felt free.  Maybe it was the Vintage yellow coat, yeah maybe.  Stay Tuned In-Best, Malaika
